As you read through this summary of the Gospel Message, please have a Bible with you so you can refer to the Scripture passages listed. This is important because the message is not ours but the Words of our God! We encourage you to do further study and seek the Lord and other believers for help with any questions. May the Lord bless you with the free gift of salvation if it is not already yours!
The Problem: Sin
Every person is a sinner (Romans 3:23)
The result of our sin is separation from God – physical & spiritual death (Ephesians 2:1, 2, Romans 6:23a)
After death each person will face God in judgment (Hebrews 9:27)
God’s Solution: Jesus Christ – His Son
Jesus was both fully God and fully man (Matthew 1:20; John 1:1, 14; Philippians 2:5-11)
Jesus lived a life without sin (Matthew 4:1-11; Hebrews 4:15)
Jesus suffered and died on the cross for the punishment of sin, and was raised to life on the third day to provide eternal life for those who believe in Him (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Acts 16:31; Romans 8:1)
Our Response: Faith
Salvation is a free gift from God through faith in the life, sacrificial death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9, 10)
Those who confess their sins (1John 1:9) and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord become children of God (John 1:12)
Faith in Jesus Christ results in eternal life with God (John 3:16)
When a person believes in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, that person is born again (spiritually) as a child of God by faith (John 3:1-8). Believers, known as Christians, are encouraged to grow spiritually through Worship, Bible Study, Prayer, Witness, and Christian Fellowship in a local church (Acts 2:40-47).
